The wars of the Empire Builders.
The USA - led NATO army is waging wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and the U.S. now maintains 700 military bases world-wide and another 6000 in the US and its territories.
This year the Obama administration spent billions to invade Haiti while it denied the victims of the deadly earthquake immediate emergency care.
On 13 February 15.000 mostly U.S.A troops were used to flush out and kill 30 Taliban militiamen, killing 13 “collateral damage” human beings along the way. Such disproportionate numbers prove that the real goal of the Empire Builders is to gain control of Afghanistan, strategically located in an area teeming with gas and oil. The reasons for the war are about safeguarding the interests of a few Empire Builders at the expense of everybody else.
Obama remained silent when Israel, the nuclear-armed gendarme of the Empire Builders in the Middle East, invaded Gaza and committed human atrocities. This was only one, although possibly the most blatant, instance when Obama publicly demonstrated his allegiance to Capitalism and its wars.
The U.S. spends $700 billion of taxpayer dollars on the military each year, half the military spending of the entire world – much more than Europe, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, and Venezuela combined.
And in addition to the billions of taxpayer dollars used to bail out banks, the US government has so far spent an approximate $985,000,000,000 to wage war on Irak and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile:

over 2.8 million people have lost their homes to foreclosure or bank repossessions – nearly 8000 each day – higher numbers than the last two years when millions of others also lost their homes,
-
over 17 million people are jobless, in addition to the millions more who are working part-time when they want and need to be working full-time,
-
over 2.3 million people are imprisoned in the U.S.A., the highest percentage of any other country in the world,
-
single - payer health care coverage continues to be non-existent and young USA men and women who join the military to escape dire living conditions in the ghettos, to earn college tuition or to become eligible for health care coverage end up getting killed and maimed in wars being fought to make the world safe for the Empire Builders.
The deceased Howard Zinn, lifelong peace and anti war activist demonstrated in his book A People's History of the United States that we, as a nation, have always struggled against oppression. The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached that “a time comes when silence is betrayal.” He went on to condemn the Vietnam War and the system which created it.
Americans Against the War–France continues the legacies of Martin Luther King and Howard Zinn by denouncing the wars being fought by and against the great majority of people in the interests of a small minority of profiteers.

Afghanistan
On 13 February U.S.A. led NATO forces together with pro U.S.A. Afghan government troops invaded the town of Marja saying they meant “to flush out “ Taliban militia men. Announcement of the invasion forced much of the civilian population to flee. NATO has announced that 13 civilians and about 30 Taliban were killed.
So the end result of the invasion is that about 15.000 mostly U.S.A troops were needed to flush out and kill 30 Taliban militiamen, killing 13 “collateral damage” human beings along the way.
The reason the USA-led NATO military force is in Afghanistan has nothing to do with flushing out or killing a relatively small number of militia men.
The real goal is to gain control of Afghanistan because of its geographically strategic location: the site of a future pipeline meant to transport gas from Turkmenistan via Afghanistan and Pakistan to India, the 6th largest energy consumer in the world.
It's all about the interests of a few Empire Builders at the expense of everybody else.
An AAW - France suggestion: Together with Haiti, Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world with a life-expectancy level of 44.5 years. Only 43.1% of men and 12.6% of women can read. The USA-led NATO coalition spends billions to kill a small number of militia men. Why not spend the money on food, housing, education, medical care and projects to build industry to eradicate the poverty that partially engenders, among other social ills, global trafficking of dangerous substances.
Haiti
Under the guise of humanitarian aid USA marines, army and navy, together with a USA installed Haitian government, have militarily taken over the country. In the mean time the Haitian population, especially in the poorer districts, continues to live in dire conditions after the devastating earthquake. The exorbitant amount of money the USA spent to deploy the military was found immediately. The relatively smaller amount of money needed for food, shelter, medical care and more pressing immediate reconstruction is very slow in coming and will never reach the astronomical sums spent in a few hours to effect a military takeover.

Américains en tête, quinze mille soldats des forces de l'OTAN et afghanes se sont engagés dans une offensive majeure contre les talibans dans la ville de Marjah. Dans son ensemble, la population civile a pris la fuite mais L'OTAN a reconnu que deux roquettes tirées contre les talibans ont manqué leur cible et tué 12 civils. Toujours selon l'OTAN, une trentaine de talibans ont été tués.
Bilan des opérations: 15.000 soldats, principalement US, pour venir à bout de 30 talibans
Malgré les dires des gouvernements concernés, les forces de l'OTAN, les USA en premier, ne sont pas en Afghanistan pour débarrasser la population des talibans.
Le but réel: contrôler le pays où est prévue la construction d'un gazoduc destiné à transporter du gaz venant du Turkménistan, transitant par l'Afghanistan et le Pakistan, pour arriver en Inde, la 6ème puissance consommatrice d'énergie du monde.
Il s'agit de faire la guerre avec nos enfants pour des gros intérêts énergétiques/financiers loin de considérations humanistes ou généreuses.

Sous prétexte de venir en aide après le terrible tremblement de terre, les USA ont envoyé les marines, l'armée et le navy pour s'emparer militairement de Haïti afin d'éviter qu'un quelconque mouvement social ne déstabilise une région que les USA considère toujours comme leur arrière-cour, impérialisme oblige. Entre temps, surtout dans les quartiers populaires, la population continue de vivre un cauchemar : manque de vivres, conditions sanitaires dangereuses, manque de soins médicaux, pas de logement, etc.
Les sommes colossales nécessaires pour s'emparer militairement d'Haïti ont été attribuées, illico presto, le lendemain de la catastrophe. Celles destinées à venir en aide à une population en détresse tardent à venir pour, finalement, ne jamais atteindre les sommes astronomiques dépensées pour effectuer une invasion militaire sous les yeux du monde.

Dimanche dernier au Honduras s'est produit un coup d’état contre la démocratie. Le Président constitutionnel, Manuel ZELAYA, a été séquestré et expulsé de force par l’armée. Une oligarchie des plus réactionnaires s'est installée depuis au pouvoir, personnifiée par Roberto Micheletti, ancien militaire et puissant homme d'affaires.
Le Peuple, qui s'était soulevé pacifiquement depuis l'enlèvement de son président élu, est réprimé de plus en plus violemment par la police et les militaires. La répression se fait aussi sentir par la censure de la presse nationale et internationale et par l'instauration de la terreur dans la population à travers des couvre-feux et des coupures systématiques de l'électricité, de l'eau potable et des télécommunications.
Nous ne pouvons nous résoudre au retour en Amérique Latine de dictatures militaires déguisées en démocratie, qui tentent d'empêcher les réformes nécessaires au progrès de cette région.
Nous devons tous nous mobiliser pour réaffirmer notre solidarité avec le peuple hondurien qui attend le retour sur le territoire de son président légitime. Nous devons tous exiger la fin de l’état d’urgence, le rétablissement des libertés publiques et du fonctionnement démocratique des institutions.
Ici, en France, nous appelons toutes les associations de solidarité internationale, les partis politiques, les syndicats et mouvements citoyens à se mobiliser et faire entendre leur voix pour soutenir le peuple du Honduras et accompagner le retour de son Président, Manuel Zélaya, seul Président démocratiquement élu.

SYNOPSIS
William Francome is a fairly typical, white middle-class guy. Typical except for the fact that he is about to embark on a journey into the dark heart of the American judicial system; the tangled world of renowned Death Row prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal.
The connection between these two characters is a simple one, and the pretext for this film, as Will explains:
"I was born in London on December 9th 1981. Over 3000 miles away Mumia Abu-Jamal, a Black Panther and radical journalist, was arrested for the murder of a police officer in Philadelphia. He claimed he was innocent but was sentenced to death and has been awaiting execution ever since. Over the years, he has attracted massive international support from organisations like Amnesty International and world leaders like Nelson Mandela amongst others. I'm now 24 years old and in that time Mumia has become the most famous and controversial death row inmate in America".
Despite his situation, and against all odds, Mumia has managed to penetrate the consciousness of people like Will. Through his writings and his web and radio broadcasts from Death Row, he has become known to many as "the Voice of the Voiceless".
"In Prison My Whole Life" takes us to some surprising places and brings us into contact with some of America's most original minds. Never-seen-before footage and brand new evidence create a prevailing case for reasonable doubt while exploring the socio-political climate of America past and present. Angela Davis, Mos Def, Noam Chomsky, Alice Walker, Snoop Dogg, Steve Earle, Amy Goodman and many others take us through a decades-old struggle for equality, fairness and respect that so many Americans strive for to this day.
Mumia's cause has created a political storm but after the politicians have said their piece, after the court papers have been filed and the protestors have gone home, we are left with a film about a man , a father, a son, an inspiration and a pariah - who faces his twenty-fifth year on Death Row.
Extraordinary though Mumia's story is, he is only one of 3,350 people currently on death row in the United States. This film allows him not only to speak to us, but also on behalf of those others who cannot find a voice.
